Velocity Films is a South African-based commercial production company with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town. It was founded in 1990 by the producer and director team of Barry Munchick and Keith Rose. It is now the biggest production company in South Africa.
In May 2014, Velocity Films appointed Clockwork Media to grow and manage its social channels, and develop and create new original content for its blog titled V12. One of the first challenges was that Cannes Lions 2014 was just around the corner; therefore, immediate action had to be taken to create pre-Cannes, live Cannes and post-Cannes tailored content.
Clockwork Media immediately began creating relevant and insightful content for Velocity, and began reaching out to influencers and Cannes Lions attendees. A strategically designed content plan was crafted to maximise all Cannes Lions 2014 opportunities and talking points. Working together with Velocity’s Cannes attendees, Clockwork Media produced engaging content for Velocity’s social media and V12.
For three weeks, Clockwork Media worked around the clock to ensure all content was timely and relevant. By the end of June, the V12 blog had grown by over 900% in page views and had tripled the number of visitors. In terms of social engagement, the conversation around V12 and Cannes Lions was heightened and the reach was significant.
